Find out what we will be learning about this term in Year 2!
Term 3 - Street Detectives
This way or that way? Where should we go? Up to the local shops or down to the playing fields? Let's learn about our local community, looking at houses old and new and finding out how our streets have changed since our Mums and Dads were young. Perhaps your Granny or Grandpa went to your School or maybe they worked in the Baker's shop?
Make maps and plans of the streets around us, planning our routes. What can you see? What can we find? Whereabouts do you live? Do you know your address?
Find out how to write instructions, directions, adverts and learn rhymes all about our community from different times.
When the Lord Mayor writes and asks us to help make our street a better place, it's time to get your thinking caps on and paint brushes at the ready!
Ready to roll, Street Detectives? Get your clipboards and cameras...it's time to start investigating!

Buzzard Class Library Day
Our Library day is on MONDAY.
Your child is able to choose a library book on a Tuesday and keep it for a week.
*Permission slips must be signed and returned before your child is able to take a book*
Buzzard Class Reading Books
Reading books in Buzzard Class will be changed on a MONDAY and FRIDAY if they have been read at home. Please indicate by signing your child's blue home-school reading record.
Buzzard Class Spelling Test
Children in Buzzard will be given a new list of spellings in their Spelling Book on a Thursday.
A Spelling test to check their spellings will take place the following Wednesday giving the children 1 week to learn their spellings. Please help your child to practise these spellings and encourage them to apply them in any writing done at home. If your child knows the spellings confidently, practise writing them in a sentence and also remember to revisit spellings from previous weeks as sometimes they are not always retained.
Buzzard Class Maths Homework
Maths homework will be set at the start of a term. Your child will be able to Log In to their Abacus Account and complete the set homework. Children completing homework each week will receive a certificate at the end of term.
Buzzard Class Family Challenges
Each child has their own Family Challenge Book. There is a list of ideas you can complete together at home to supplement the theme in Class. We would like each child to complete at least 1 challenge, but there is no limit! Each challenge completed and brought to School can earn 10 team points and an acknowledgement in our Celebration Assembly!
