Welcome to our Governors’ section.
Raunds Park Infants Governing Body
Chair of Governors Carol Wilson
I am Chair of Governors here at Raunds Park Infants. I have lived in Raunds all of my life. My parents, my sisters and myself, my children and grandchildren all attended Raunds Park Infant school and I have seen many changes at the school over the years.
I applied to be a Governor so that I could be part of the ongoing changes and challenges that the future holds for the school, as I believe it is an excellent school and gives the children a sound start in their school life.
Vice Chair Emma Whewell
I am the Vice Chair of Governors. I work at the University of Northampton training primary school teachers. I am a trained PE teacher and have worked in a number of school settings before moving into teacher education. I enjoy being a Governor and helping the school to improve all its aspect of teaching, learning and assessment.
I am a chartered accountant, employed by English Heritage as a Finance Business Partner.
My daughter is a pupil at the school with my son starting in September, for this reason I wanted to be involved in their education and felt my finance background and experience working for a not-for-profit organisation would positively impact the governance of the school.
I started as Parent Governor in September 2017 when my two girls started Reception. I wanted to get involved with the school and support the school where I could. My background is in Human Resources and Training for over the last 20 years and aim to use this experience and knowledge to support the school and Governors.
My role as Parent Governor allows me to be part of the Health and Safety Committee where we have regular walks around the school looking at safety, I also have a focus on Pupil Premium and have spent time with the Head Teacher and the Higher Level Teaching Assistant who demonstrated the ongoing great work to support the children.
It has been great to see my daughters thorough enjoyment and love of the school, and their progress has been great. I am so glad we chose Raunds Park Infant School for our daughters and look forward to the coming years as a Parent Governor and also as a mum.
I’m Martyn Hewitt and I became a parent governor here back in September 2017. It was at the initial welcome assembly that I first heard about the school governors roles (having never crossed my mind before having kids!) and I am very glad to say it inspired me to spare some time and effort into giving something back and helping the wonderful team here at Raunds Park Infants!
Professionally I am a Hotel General Manager and have worked in hotels for over 15 years.
I have worked at Raunds Park Infants since 2014 and thoroughly enjoy my role as Deputy Head and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator. teach a wonderful class of Year 1 and 2 children called Robins. I am passionate about education and ensuring the best outcomes for our children. As a governor am a member of the Curriculum Committee.
I am Karen. I am a Co-opted Member of the Governing Body for my expertise in Early Years.
I have been a Teacher at Raunds Park Infant School since 2008, having also completed my Teacher Training at the School. I taught and led in Reception until July 2015 and have been a Year 1 Teacher since September 2016 also taking on the role of English Lead this academic year.
I initially joined the Governing Body, following a conversation with the previous Head Teacher, as I wanted to contribute towards the development of the School and gain a deeper understanding of the running of a School for my own Professional Development.
Outside of School, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, visiting the Theatre and Spas. I am also a Season Ticket Holder at Northampton Town Football Club, attending all home matches and some away matches with my Dad.
Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each Governor.
We have also provided a Register of Governor Interests and an Annual Statement of Issues for your information.
Our recent inspection acknowledged the good work the governors do in their leadership of the school saying "The governing body provides leaders with effective support and challenge".
The governors regularly visit the school to ensure they have a good understanding of how the school operates, and you are likely to see them at events such as Parent's evenings, Curriculum events and Open days. Governors can be contacted via the school office.
