Welcome to our Governors’ section.
Chair of Governors
My name is Keith Maddern and I am very proud to be the Chair of Governors. I have been part of the governing body now for over two years and I have two young children of which my youngest graduated from Raunds Park Infants in July 2018. I became a governor due to how impressed I was with how the school educated and pastorally took care of all the children that come through their doors. I have two roles in my day job, Operations Assistant Director for In ‘n' Out Autocentres and an Actor, Director and Teacher for the Royal and Derngate Theatre in Northampton. If you ever wish to speak to me for answers to your questions, bounce ideas or just a general chat then please do not hesitate to contact me through the School and I will respond as quickly as possible. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the parents and guardians for choosing Raunds Park Infants as it is always an honour and a pleasure to be such an important part of their young lives.
Vice Chair of Governors
I am Vice Chair of Governors here at Raunds Park Infants. I have lived in Raunds all of my life. My parents, my sisters and myself, my children and grandchildren all attended Raunds Park Infant school and I have seen many changes at the school over the years.
I applied to be a Governor so that I could be part of the ongoing changes and challenges that the future holds for the school, as I believe it is an excellent school and gives the children a sound start in their school life.
I am a chartered accountant, employed by English Heritage as a Finance Business Partner.
My son and daughter are pupils at the school, for this reason I wanted to be involved in their education and felt my finance background and experience working for a not-for-profit organisation would positively impact the governance of the school.
I’m Martyn Hewitt and I became a parent governor here back in September 2017. It was at the initial welcome assembly that I first heard about the school governors roles (having never crossed my mind before having kids!) and I am very glad to say it inspired me to spare some time and effort into giving something back and helping the wonderful team here at Raunds Park Infants!
Professionally I am a Hotel General Manager and have worked in hotels for over 15 years.
I have worked at Raunds Park Infants since 2014 and thoroughly enjoy my role as Deputy Head and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator. I teach a wonderful class of Year 1 children called Robins. I am passionate about education and ensuring the best outcomes for our children.
I am an Associate Member of the Governing Body for my expertise in Early Years.
I have been a Teacher at Raunds Park Infant School since 2008, having also completed my Teacher Training at the School. I taught and led in Reception until July 2015 and have been a Year 1 Teacher since September 2016 also taking on the role of English Lead in September 2017.
I initially joined the Governing Body, following a conversation with the previous Head Teacher, as I wanted to contribute towards the development of the School and gain a deeper understanding of the running of a School for my own Professional Development.
Outside of School, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, visiting the Theatre and Spas. I am also a regular visitor at Northampton Town Football Club, attending home matches and some away matches with my Dad.
I always say I started school at four and never left. My primary schooling was inspirational and gave me a love of learning that set me on a journey to becoming a teacher. I believe a good education provides the foundation for being able to choose what career you want to follow, whatever your background and circumstances.
I spent over thirty years in primary education with the last thirteen years of my career having the privilege of being a headteacher at a local infant school. I fully understand the pressures of leadership and the important role that governors play in ensuring the children receive the best possible education.
I have worked with Raunds Park Infants and share the same educational aims and values. I am committed to providing support and challenge in a time of change.
I'm Dan Thompson and joined the governing body in September 2018. We have a daughter in year 1 and so I am naturally interested in the school and the quality of the education and experience it provides the children. I’m looking forward to contributing to the existing governing team to help maintain and continue to build on the excellent work the school are already doing. Professionally I am a chartered accountant and work as an Operations Director for a Transport and Plant Hire business and I hope some of these skills will add value to the team.
Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each Governor.
We have also provided a Register of Governor Interests and an Annual Statement of Issues for your information.
Our recent Ofsted inspection acknowledged the good work the governors do in their leadership of the school saying, "The governing body provides leaders with effective support and challenge".
The governors regularly visit the school to ensure they have a good understanding of how the school operates, and you are likely to see them at events such as Parents' evenings, Curriculum events and Open days. Governors can be contacted via the school office.
