Owl Class P.E. Day

Our P.E. Days in Owl Class are MONDAY and FRIDAY.

Please ensure that P.E. Kit is in School on a Monday and Friday, any earrings are removed and long hair is tied back. Thank you! smiley

Owl Class Library Day

Our Library Day in Year 1 is a FRIDAY.

Your child is able to choose a Library Book on a Friday and keep for a week.

*Permission slips must be signed and returned before your child is able to take a book*

Owl Class Reading Books

Reading books in Owl Class will be changed on a MONDAY and FRIDAY if they have been read at home.  Please indicate by signing your child's blue home-school reading record. Children who read at home are rewarded with a team point and Golden Ticket.

Owl Class Spelling Quiz

Children in Owl Class will be given a new list of spellings in their Spelling Book on a FRIDAY.

A Spelling Quiz to check their Spellings will take place the following Friday giving children 1 week to learn their Spellings.  The Spellings will contain a mix of words with newly learnt sounds in as well as some Common Exception Words.  Please help your child to practise these spellings and encourage them to apply them in any writing done at home.  If your child knows the Spellings confidently, practise applying them in a sentence and also remember to revisit Spellings from previous weeks as sometimes they are not always retained.

Owl Class Maths Homework

Maths Homework will be set each THURSDAY.  Your child will be able to Log In to their Abacus Account and complete the set homework based on the week's teaching and learning. Children completing homework each week will receive a certificate at the end of term.

Owl Class Family Challenges

Each child has their own Family Challenge Book.  There is a list of ideas you can complete together at home to supplement the theme in Class. We would like each child to complete at least 1 challenge, but there is no limit! Each challenge completed and brought into School can earn 10 team points and an acknowledgement in our Celebration Assembly!

Term 1 Theme - Towers, Tunnels and Turrets

See the castle ahead? Get ready to invade its mighty walls! Shoot a projectile with an archer's aim! Head across the drawbridge, over the moat and up to the top of the tower...

Meet Rapunzel who lives in a tall, tall tower. Let's build a brand new one...Whose is the tallest? Can you measure it?

Then dig deep, deep down, making burrows and tunnels, just like the animals who live underground.

What's that sound? I hear little hooves going trip, trap, trip, trap over the rickety bridge.  Watch out for the angry troll underneath. He likes to gobble up little girls and boys! Make sure your bridge is sturdy enough to take our weight and get us safely to the other side.

And finally...meet three little pigs who need your help to build a strong fortress. Inside its strong walls they'll be safe from the big, bad wolf!

No huffing and puffing will blow your fortress down!
