Welcome to our Governors’ section.
Chair of Governors
I always say I started school at four and never left. My primary schooling was inspirational and gave me a love of learning that set me on a journey to becoming a teacher. I believe a good education provides the foundation for being able to choose what career you want to follow, whatever your background and circumstances.
I spent over thirty years in primary education with the last thirteen years of my career having the privilege of being a headteacher at a local infant school. I fully understand the pressures of leadership and the important role that governors play in ensuring the children receive the best possible education.
I have worked with Raunds Park Infants and share the same educational aims and values. I am committed to providing support and challenge in a time of change.
I'm Dan Thompson and joined the governing body in September 2018. We have a daughter in year 1 and so I am naturally interested in the school and the quality of the education and experience it provides the children. I’m looking forward to contributing to the existing governing team to help maintain and continue to build on the excellent work the school are already doing. Professionally I am a chartered accountant and work as an Operations Director for a Transport and Plant Hire business and I hope some of these skills will add value to the team.
Hello, my name is Alicia Marsland and my son is in year one of Park infants.
I have had such great experience with Park infants, both as a parent and working with the teachers on PIPS. The teachers have a wonderful relationship with the children and here at Park go above and beyond. This has encouraged me to want to give back to the school, therefore I applied to become a parent governor.
When I am not running around after my two boys, I work as a senior paediatric nurse and have done for over 10 years.
I have an in-depth understanding of child health both physical and psychological, I am confident that my skills as a nurse can be transferred over to this role and I look forward to working with the rest of the team.
My name is Richard Bosworth and I am now a teacher at Newton Road School, having joined Raunds Park as an NQT 4 and a half years ago. After developing my leadership as PE and Mathematics lead, I have now moved on to the Senior Leadership team at Newton Road School, where I am leading PiXL and Pupil Premium. I am passionate about sport, encouraging children to be physically active and raising children’s aspirations. I have an excellent understanding of how Raunds Park works and feel I am now at the stage of my career where I can assist the school at Governor level.
Our last Ofsted inspection acknowledged the good work the governors do in their leadership of the school saying, "The governing body provides leaders with effective support and challenge".
The governors regularly visit the school to ensure they have a good understanding of how the school operates, and you are likely to see them at events such as Parents' evenings, Curriculum events and Open days. Governors can be contacted via the school office.
